Declan Rice has reportedly declined a new contract offer from West Ham, but the club remain confident that he will extend his stay at the London Stadium in the near future.
It’s claimed by the Evening Standard that a rather derisory offer of £8,000 a week was offered to Rice in an attempt to keep him tied down to the club this summer.
Although these terms are an improvement on the youngster’s existing deal at the club, worth a reported £3,000 a week, it seems Rice was dissatisfied with the Hammers’ opening offer.

Talks over a contract extension for Rice are likely to continue, however, with the Standard’s report indicating that the top brass at West Ham are confident that the youngster will stay for the foreseeable future.
Rice established himself as a key first-team player last season, impressing when utilised in both central defence and in the middle of the park by ex-manager David Moyes.
