West Ham are reportedly looking to sign Cristian Pavon, who has been named as part of Argentina’s squad for the World Cup in Russia, according to Team Talk.
The 22-year-old was named in the squad ahead of Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, causing plenty of controversy among the Argentine press.
Pavon has been an essential part of the Boca Juniors side who have won the last two Argentine Primera Division titles. They also reached the final of the Argentine Super Cup, but lost to fierce rivals River Plate.

West Ham have a history of signing Argentinians, with Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano, Pablo Zabaleta and Manuel Lanzini featuring for the Hammers in recent years.
Pellegrini is apparently keen for Lanzini to have a word with Pavon to persuade him to come to the London Stadium.
Boca are keen to delay any transfer happening until after the World Cup, hoping for his price to rise if he performs well in Russia, although he’s unlikely to see much game time due to the fierce competition in the squad.
