Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has emerged as the leading contender to take over as the new manager of West Ham, according to Goal.
The Hammers confirmed this week that David Moyes would not be extending his contract at the London Stadium, meaning that the search for a new permanent manager is well underway.
Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez was understood to be West Ham’s top target this summer, however, fresh claims from Goal indicate that Pellegrini is the man who the top brass at the London Stadium are striving to appoint.

It’s claimed that the experienced Chilean boss will meet the Hammers’ co-owner David Sullivan in the near future to stage talks over a potential move to East London.
The 64-year-old is currently contracted to Hebei China Fortune, a team in the Chinese Super League, but a return to a top European league could tempt Pellegrini away from the riches of East Asia.
Pellegrini will, of course, be an expensive appointment if West Ham are to secure a deal for the ex-Real Madrid boss, but he appears to tick all the boxes as the club search for Premier League experience.
