West Ham United are reportedly pondering a move to trigger Rafa Benitez’s release clause at Newcastle United.
The Hammers are stepping up their pursuit of a new permanent first-team manager following the confirmation that David Moyes’ contract at the club would not be extended.
A number of bosses have already been linked with the vacant managerial post at the London Stadium and if the Guardian are to be believed, strong consideration is being given to a swoop for Benitez.

It’s claimed in a report that the Spaniard’s contract at Newcastle currently contains a release clause priced at £6 million and West Ham are considering triggering this option.
The Hammers are continuing to weigh up their options but Benitez appears to be near the top of their shortlist ahead of next season.
Benitez did a superb job with Newcastle in their first campaign back in the Premier League, leading them to a number of impressive results along with a top-half finish.
