Andy Carroll has been fined by West Ham for his decision to leave the bench during Sunday’s 4-1 defeat against champions Manchester City.
The forward was disappointed at not being brought on for the Hammers when they made a triple substitution in the second half, and he showed that by going down the tunnel. He didn’t return for the final 20 minutes as the game died down with City out of sight.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, manager David Moyes said he was unhappy with the 29-year-old:
I was really disappointed in Andy. I don’t believe there was any excuse for what he did. He’s been fined but he has apologised, both to me and the players, and I think he understands it was wrong.
Carroll scored an equaliser against Stoke the previous week so thought he would have been brought on to try change the game again, but that wasn’t the case.

Moyes confirmed Carroll would be in the squad for this weekend’s fixture with Leicester, and said the team needs to be united at they look to secure safety at the King Power Stadium:
I believe strongly that everyone is part of the team and everyone has to show that all the time, especially at this time of the season.
