Edimilson Fernandes understands fans’ anger

Forgotten midfielder Edimilson Fernandes has been out injured since December but is slowly approaching a return for the Hammers.

The 21-year-old is in a race against time though in his bid to get partake in some Premier League games before the season comes to and end.

Fernandez’ return can’t come quickly enough for David Moyes as he needs as many options as possible for the run-in. West Ham are currently 17th in the league and only two points clear of the bottom three.

Fernandez is currently in his home country, Switzerland, with the u21 national team as he completes his recovery by getting some minutes under his belt. He said:

I preferred to start with the U21s again to try and get back into a rhythm. [Since his move to West Ham], I’ve become stronger mentally. When I played in Switzerland, I sometimes relaxed after 70 minutes, I was less bothered after a while.

Due the extent of this injury, Fernandes will have to get back on the pitch soon and seriously impress if he is to get a place in Switzerland’s squad at the World Cup this summer.
