West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has revealed that the club made a quite stunning offer to sign Joe Allen from Stoke City in January.
The Hammers have long been admirers of the Wales international and were evidently keen to recruit him in the mid-season transfer window. However, if Sullivan is to be believed, the Potters turned down a mammoth offer of £25 million for the midfielder.
Allen, who is a key player for Stoke, was linked with a move to the London Stadium throughout January but it seems the club’s efforts to recruit him were of no avail.

A report from Football London claims that Sullivan told talkSPORT of the bid for Allen, which would have been one of the most expensive fees spent by the club if Stoke had agreed to negotiate.
West Ham, despite their loan signing of Joao Mario, were out to sign a new central midfielder in the closing stages of the transfer window. Offers were made for Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker and Lille’s Ibrahim Amadou, but the Hammers had no luck in bringing any new midfielder to the club.
