Javier Hernandez insists West Ham have not yet guaranteed safety in the Premier League this season and he calls for a higher level of consistency to achieve this.
West Ham are currently 12th in the league but are only three points clear of safety in which is one of the closest relegation fights the league has seen at this stage.
West Ham had a very strong December; they beat defending champions Chelsea, as well as Huddersfield and Stoke City, and held Arsenal to a draw. But after losses to relegation rivals Newcastle and Brighton, the Hammers see themselves in trouble.
Despite rumours of a January transfer for Hernandez, he has scored twice for David Moyes since he was given a run in the side.
The Mexican spoke to the club’s official website after his sixth league goal of the season during their 3-1 defeat to Brighton:
We obviously want to be more consistent, which is obviously the key to saving us as soon as possible. We got to be at our best to stave off relegation. Two weeks ago we were in tenth place, in the middle of the table practically. Then, you can have two bad results and you are down, or you can have two very good results and you are up.
West Ham welcome Watford to the London Stadium on Saturday, where Chicharito will be hoping to continue his scoring form and help the team go towards securing a spot in the top division next season.
