BT Sport have reported that West Ham United have suspended the director of player recruitment over allegations of racism.
There are reports that Tony Henry, the Hammers’ director of player recruitment does not want the club to sign African players. He has allegedly said in an interview about the allegations (via BT Sport):
We find that when they (Africans) are not in the team they cause mayhem.
I mean look, there are top African players. There’s not a problem with them. It’s just sometimes they cause a lot of problems when they are not playing, as we had with Diafra.
It was announced on Thursday morning, the day after the transfer window closed, that Henry would be suspended while an investigation went on into these racism allegations.

The allegations are in relation to an email that was sent out on Saturday , anuary 27th, when the Hammers were thinking of bringing in a player of Cameroonian descent, but the director of player recruitment allegedly said (via BT Sport):
We don’t want any more Africans and he’s not good enough.
Meanwhile, the Premier League has such African talent as Sadio Mané, Riyad Mahrez and Mohamed Salah.
The club have made a statement saying (via BT Sport):
West Ham United will not tolerate any type of discrimination and has, therefore, acted swiftly due to the serious nature of these claims.
The West Ham United family is an inclusive one where, regardless of gender, age, ability, race, religion or sexual orientation, everybody feels welcome and included.
