West Ham have confirmed that teenager Reece Oxford has returned to the club from his loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with West Brom next week, David Moyes stated that Oxford has returned and the pair met this morning at Rush Green.
Reece will come back. I’ll take the time to have a look at him and see how he does. Hopefully we can improve him. I have only just met him actually. He is well thought of here.
Oxford was linked with a permanent stay in the Bundesliga with both Monchengladbach and Red Bull Leipzig eager to sign him, but the England U20 international has returned to the London Stadium for the second half of the season.
The 19-year-old defender has only made four appearances during his loan spell with Monchengladbach and due to a clause in his contract, he has been brought back by West Ham.
After breaking into the team during the 2015/16 season, Oxford only made two appearances last season prior to suffering an ankle injury which kept him out until January when he then joined Reading on loan.
Still highly-regarded at West Ham, there are no plans to sell Oxford who is tied to the club until 2021 and the coaching staff are eager to see what he can add in the second half of the season.
