Coming off that inspired win against Chelsea last Saturday, David Moyes would’ve instructed his side to approach the Arsenal game with the same level of commitment and determination that earned them all three points against the Premier League champions.
Moyes persevered with the same team that won against the Blues and he was nearly rewarded early on when Marko Arnautovic’s early header was ruled out by a marginal offside call.
As expected, Arsenal dominated possession but struggled to penetrate the Hammers defence, with Alex Iwobi going closest when his snapshot cannoned back off the post.
West Ham were nearly gifted all three points at the death when Javier Hernandez was played in by Mark Noble following some sloppy play from Laurent Koscielny, but the Mexican’s first-time curling effort was tipped onto the bar by Petr Cech and failed to cross the line.
That’s four points from tough fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal – and you bet Moyes would’ve snapped your hand off for that heading into the trip to Stoke this weekend.
