Middlesbrough step up their pursuit of Darren Randolph

Middlesbrough have stepped up their interest in West Ham and Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph, according to a report from HITC,

Randolph’s future at the London Stadium is in serious doubt after being dropped from the starting position in mid-April after a few mistakes and his future became even more bleak after West Ham announced the signing of Joe Hart from Manchester City on loan.

Hart is set to be the number one at West Ham and it’s either Adrian or Randolph that will have to leave this summer for first team football, which they would want with the 2018 World Cup being just around the corner.

The Irish goalkeeper looks the most likely to leave West Ham with Boro making a new and improved bid for the shot-stopper.

A move to Middlesbrough will see Randolph return to the Championship after signing for West Ham from Birmingham in 2015, when he was brought in as a backup to Adrian.

With Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan both leaving the Riverside, they are in the market for a new goalkeeper and the new boss Garry Monk is an admirer of Randolph. He’s also been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Karl Darlow.
