West Ham travelled to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday to play a Bournemouth side who failed to win a game in nine before they came up against the Hammers.
Bournemouth had an amazing chance to go 1-0 up early on in the game, when Joshua King placed the ball wide from a penalty. 48 seconds later, Sofiane Feghouli, the culprit of the penalty decision, slipped in Michail Antonio who turned brilliantly in the box and slotted it past Artur Boruc to make it 1-0 to West Ham within 10 minutes.
The Cherries then had another penalty awarded and they changed the taker from King to Benik Afobe, however, the fortunes didn’t change as Darren Randolph saved the second penalty of the day.
Bournemouth didn’t let this get to them though as King equalised with a nice flick and volley with 15 minutes of the half to go and then put Eddie Howe’s side in front shortly after the half time break.
Two of the three West Ham substitutions linked up to equalise with Sam Byram cleverly slipping in Andre Ayew for a simple tap in.
However, it didn’t end there. Bournemouth got the winner in the dying moments of the game when the on loan Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere’s shot was deflected into the path of King and he finished off his hat trick.
Although many West Ham fans blamed the referee Bobby Madley for the 3-2 defeat, the Hammers did not perform well for most of the day and were mostly to blame.
