For the second game in succession, West Ham’s impressive and dominant display was not rewarded with the full three points it deserved.
After they saw two points dropped against West Brom when they netted a 93rd-minute equaliser, West Ham were unable to find a winner against Watford on Saturday evening.
The game got off to a rotten start for the Hammers as referee Craig Pawson awarded the hosts a penalty just two minutes into the game when Cheikhou Kouyate bundled over ex-Iron Mauro Zarate which allowed Troy Deeney to fire home to give the Hornets an early lead.
From that point on, West Ham displayed some great attacking football but, with Andy Carroll missing out again, lacked a real presence in the final third.
They would’ve gone into the half on level terms if not for Younes Kaboul’s last-ditch block on what should’ve been a tap-in for Robert Snodgrass.
With less than 20 minutes to play, it looked like to would be that sort of day for the Hammers before Antonio used his power and pace to latch onto a ball over the top.
His effort came off both posts and back into the penalty area where Andre Ayew was there to tap home from close range.
The game ended on a sour note as Michail Antonio was sent off for a second bookable offence late-on and the Hammers had to settle for a point which deserved to be all three.
