It has been a quiet deadline day for West Ham fans but news has surfaced revealing an approach was made by the Hammers for Ludogorets winger Jonathan Cafu.
Sport Witness understand Brighton, Leicester, Stoke and West Ham all made late approaches for Cafu, but no side followed up their initial interest as a result of Ludogoret’s €12million price-tag. It is believed the English clubs valued Cafu closer to €7million.
An eleventh-hour bid on deadline day will not materialise for Cafu, but West Ham could revisit a deal for the 25-year-old in the summer. With his contract set to expire in 2018, Ludogorets will be forced to accept a cut-price for the forward.
Cafu boasts eleven goals in 27 games this campaign, including a goal and an assist against Arsenal in the Champions League back in November. Thirteen of these appearances came from right-wing and the other fourteen came as a lone striker.
