Preview: West Brom vs. West Ham

West Ham and West Brom will meet this Saturday at The Hawthorns with both teams looking to bounce back from defeats against Watford and Bournemouth respectively.

Team News

West Ham come into this game with no fresh injuries which is great news considering their luck with injuries in the 2016/17 season. However, no one has come back for the Hammers this week with Aaron Cresswell, Andre Ayew, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho are still out with long-term injuries.

Sofiane Feghouli and Edimilson Fernandes played for the Under-23’s against the Wolves Under-23’s last Friday and they are very close to a the first team squad. New signing, Alvaro Arbeloa, is still not fit for the West Brom game but he will play in the EFL Cup against Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.

For West Brom, Northern Ireland international, Chris Brunt is close to a first-team return for the Baggies after suffering a severe knee ligament injury in February but he will not feature against West Ham. Salomon Rondon and Euro 2016 hero, Hal Robson-Kanu are fit for the match on Saturday despite doubts.

My Predicted XI’s:

West Brom: 4-4-2 – Foster; Nyom, McAuley, Evans, Galloway; Phillips, Fletcher, Yacob, Chadli; Berahino, Rondon.

West Ham: 4-2-3-1 – Adrian; Byram, Nordtveit, Ogbonna, Masuaku; Noble, Kouyate; Antonio, Lanzini, Payet; Zaza

Previous Meetings

During West Ham’s great season last season, one of the most convincing performances was against West Brom at The Hawthorns. West Ham won 3-0 on that day with Mark Noble stealing the show with two goals, including an emphatic volley in the 18-yard-box after a great passing move.

However, West Ham haven’t always enjoyed playing away to West Brom, especially when the Hammers were thumped 4-0 in the FA Cup 5th Round two seasons ago, which put great pressure on Sam Allardyce and the board at that time.

Former Baggie and Hammer, Morgan Amalfitano was sent off during this match as well. These two teams are very even when it comes to their all-time head-to-head record with both teams winning 39 of their last 101 meetings, with the rest (23) ending in draws.

My Score Prediction: West Brom 0-2 West Ham
