Serie A outfit Fiorentina have joined West Ham in the race to sign out-of-favour Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to Calcio Mercato.
West Ham’s main priorities are thought to be Juventus’ Simone Zaza and Manchester City flop Wilfried Bony, but the Hammers are keeping their options open going into the final days of the transfer window.
Everton are also to be interested in signing Gabbaidini, who has scored 20 goals in 60 appearances for Napoli since joining from Sampdoria in 2015.
The 24-year-old rose to prominence in the 2014/15 season, where he earned a place in the Italy squad by netting nine times in 15 outings for Sampdoria. That form also caught the eye of then-Napoli manager Rafael Benitez, who signed him to replace the injured on-loan Michu.
Since Benitez has left the club, Gabbiadini has struggled to cement a first-team place. The Italian thought that he would finally get his chance when Gonzalo Higuain joined Juventus in a £75m deal, but new boss Maurizio Sarri opted to sign Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik, who starred for his country at the Euros.
This has seen Gabbiadini concerned about his long-term future with the club, and he is considering his options in closing days of the window.
