Manchester United are believed to be readying a sensational £50.2m bid for West Ham and France star Dimitri Payet this summer.
According to French news outlet, Top Mercato, Manchester United have made their interest known in Payet this summer but they face tough competition for his services with both Inter Milan and Real Madrid both being interested in the playmaker.
After his £10.7m move from Marseille, Payet lit up the Premier League for West Ham last season, scoring 12 goals and recording 15 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions helping him earn the Hammer of the Year award as well as being named in the PFA Team of the Year.
He carried his form into Euro 2016 where his three goals and two assists helped France progress to the final where they were ultimately beaten by Portugal in extra time.
An unnamed Chinese Super League side made a huge £38m offer for Payet back in February which forced West Ham’s hand and they offered the 29-year-old a new contract worth £120,000-a-week until the summer of 2021.
Unwilling to let their star player leave on the cheap, the Hammers have slapped a £75m price-tag on Payet’s head hoping to warn off interest.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who is closing in on the signing of Payet’s Les Bleus team-mate Paul Pogba, is also keen on marking several more marquee signings this summer with the West Ham man atop his wishlist.
West Ham have been adamant since the start of June that Dimitri Payet will still be a player come to the end of the summer transfer window and that he will not be sold at any price.
With Payet being known to class Bilić as a father figure it will not just take money to tempt West Ham over but a real incentive to break Payet’s bond with the Bilić and most importantly the fans.
