Atletico Madrid and West Ham have been the only recent clubs fighting for the signature of Colombian centre-forward, Carlos Bacca.
Although today has brought the news of Kevin Gameiro even closer to signing for Atletico, meaning that they may have given up on Bacca after failing to meet his contract demands. This should mean that West Ham have a clear run for Bacca this week, to sort wages, bonuses and personal terms; it is ours to lose.

The French international manager, Didier Deschamps was criticized over the Euros for bad selection. Many fans thought that instead of Giroud and Gignac, two of Gameiro, Benzema and/or Lacazette should have gone with the squad; so Kevin will feel he wants to fight for a place. The move to Atletico is more likely as a big club usually means you have more chance of making the international squad, although it shouldn’t.
What does this mean for West Ham?
For West Ham, this means that it is theirs to mess up. Every other striker we have tried for this window has not paid off, but this one; only we can destroy the deal. It is likely we will meet somewhere in between with the wages deal, adding bonuses to keep Bacca happy and playing well. By the end of this week, something should be agreed and we should have our marquee signing.
