West Ham show interest in Moussa Sissoko

West Ham have reportedly shown a shock interest for Newcastle and France midfielder, Moussa Sissoko. The French international enjoyed a couple of fantastic seasons for Newcastle, playing 118 games over three seasons. Although his third season was poor, not only did Newcastle get relegated and have a bad season; but Sissoko was often criticised for not caring, being lazy and labelled by fans as Newcastle’s worst performer. In the Euro 2016 final, he

In the Euro 2016 final, he showed glimpses of his old self, the talent he has and what he can do, but whether he could turn that temporary form into permanent, we are yet to know.

As we have seen this week on Sky Sports News, Mike Ashley has asked for a substantial amount of money for the midfielder, £35m to be exact, and Liverpool have shown interest. Sissoko has made it clear on his twitter that he wants to leave, I think that the situation will end up with Newcastle having to settle for a lower amount.

The website went on to say “For now, West Ham has not made an offer. Newcastle set a price ‘floor’ of 20 million to open a discussion, but given the context, the money could rise”. I think that this shows that Newcastle are extremely reluctant to sell the player for less than £35million, but believe they may have to listen to lower offers or it will not happen.

One thing for sure is that Moussa Sissoko is a fantastic player on his game, but to play for a club such as West Ham you need to show fight, passion and play for the shirt to be loved by the fans. I have never really seen him show any of those emotions, other than in the final. If (a big IF) we do sign Moussa, he would certainly have to fight for a place and show why he deserves it.
