West Ham United have finally confirmed the signing of the young striker, Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United. The 20-year-old striker spent last year on loan at Barnsley in league 1, he fired them into the championship with a fantastic goal in the play-off final.
Throughout his youth years at Manchester United he showed great talent and promising skill, quite frankly it just wasn’t to be. If Fletcher did not go out on loan to Barnsley, it could well have been him coming on in the Europa league and starting ahead of Rashford against Arsenal. Sometimes things do not go your way, but Ashley still enjoyed a great year at the league one club with nine goals and four assists in 27 appearances.
What can we expect from him?
He is not someone who will be used in our first team immediately, although, with the amount of games we have this season, I can see him making appearances. Most people will watch a few clips on YouTube or watch him for a few minutes and assume he is a ‘target man’, but this is not the case. His big presence is something that will work well at West Ham, but that his not his best attribute; his blistering pace and natural finishing is fantastic for a man of his size, expect good things.
As long as we give him time to settle in and make it to the first team, I am sure he will be one for the future.
