Diafra Sakho hands in Transfer Request

After a disappointing season and a reported fallout with Slaven Bilic, Diafra Sakho has requested to leave West Ham United. The clubs pursuit of other strikers in the transfer window likely played a role in him wanting to leave.

Sakho joined the club from Metz in 2014 and quickly established himself as a key player, scoring seven goals in his first nine games. However, he only managed nine in his next 34 matches and was plagued with injuries and ill temperament on and off the pitch. He did not fly with the rest of the squad to the USA for their pre-season tour, complaining of illness.

West Ham turned down an offer of £11m for the Senegalese striker from Sunderland last month, with manager Sam Allardyce keen to reunite with the striker he brought to the club for around £3m and will submit a renewed offer for the forward nearer West Ham’s reported £15m asking price.

West Brom are also interested the striker, with reports suggesting they are preparing a £15m bid. Sakho is after guaranteed first team football and these two clubs seem the most likely to secure his signature, but in the current transfer market, any team could come in for him.

It will be a shame to see Sakho leave as he showed so much promise when he first joined, but there is no place for a bad attitude in the squad and Bilic has made it clear that he values squad harmony above anything else.
