West Ham new boy Havard Nordtveit has tipped academy star Martin Samuelsen to be a future star.
Nordtveit arrived in East London on a free transfer, following his release from Borussia Monchengladbach, and admits he has struck a friendship with 19-year-old Samuelsen.
The pair, who were born seven years apart, both grew up in the city of Haugesund, in Norway, before leaving the country to pursue their footballing dreams – Havard to Arsenal and Martin to Manchester City.
“We come from the same city – well, I’m a farmer and he’s from the city!” said Nordtveit to the Club’s official website.
He got his debut for Norway in the summer and he was the youngest ever player from our city [of Haugesund] to get his debut.
Nordtveit went on to praise Samuelsen for his efforts and training, admitting ‘everyone [club and country] is liking what they are seeing from Martin’.
“Of course he worked hard to get where he is now and so far everyone is liking what they are seeing from Martin. He is showing some really good skills for the national team, so I think we will see much more from him.”
