West Ham are in pole position to sign teenage sensation Chukwudi Agor from the ASJ Academy, according to the academy’s CEO Emeka Amajiriaku.
Owngoalnigeria revealed yesterday that Sporting Lisbon had joined the race for Agor and were hopeful of reaching an agreement with the ASJ Academy, but this has now been played down by Amajiriaku.
“We have no offer from Sporting Lisbon, they have not contacted us directly. The club will have to call me officially if they are interested,” Amajiriaku, as quoted by AllNigeriaSoccer, said.

Emeka went on to confirm West Ham’s interest and revealed he is currently in negotiations with the London club.
The interest from West Ham is concrete and we are still negotiating with the club.
AllNigeriaSoccer say the Hammers have already tabled a €200,000 bid for Agor, but do not state whether it is likely to be accepted by the academy. Should either club reach an agreement for Agor, the Nigeria under-20 international will be unable to officially transfer until he turns 18 in November.
Former Lisbon player and 27-time Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amunike recommended Agor to Sporting, having watched him at the academy. While West Ham had sent scouts to track Chukwudi’s progress.
Tottenham Hotspur had also been credited with an interest in Agor and ANS say the player’s agent will visit White Hart Lane in the coming days to test whether their interest is genuine.
