Sunderland have stolen a march on West Ham in the race to sign Bosnian striker Eden Dzeko from AS Roma.
West Ham are in the market for a striker and have clearly have money to spend, having had €40million and €35million bids rejected for Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi respectively.
Eden Dzeko was the latest in a long list to be linked with a move to East London, with Italian source Calciomercato claiming the Hammers have already made initial enquiries to Roma regarding the availability of the 30-year-old.
Sunderland have now gone one step further – following up their initial interest and submitted a formal offer in the region of €11million, according to Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The bid is €4million shy of Roma’s asking price and will more than likely be rejected, especially with several clubs queuing up for Dzeko’s signature. Roma will be hoping to start a bidding war for the striker.
Di Marzio has also revealed the Black Cats were prepared to offer Eden €140,000-a-week (approximately £110,000-a-week).
