West Ham have not given up hope on signing a striker this summer, despite failing in attempts to land Callum Wilson, Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi.
A deal for any of the three aforementioned strikers could still materialise, though deals are looking unlikely having already had bids rejected.
The latest name to be linked with a move to West Ham is French striker Anthony Modeste, previously of Blackburn Rovers. He currently plies his trade in the Bundesliga with FC Koln and is reportedly keen on a move to East London.
The player may be interested in a move to West Ham, but Koln certainly aren’t. The Club’s CEO Alexander Wehrle refused to entertain the idea of selling Modeste when questioned about the rumoured move to West Ham.

“The clause was not validly withdrawn. We assume that Anthony Modeste plays in the upcoming season with us – and we wish him well,” Wehrle, as quoted by German source Die Welt, said.
Le10Sport claim West Ham are in contact with Koln regarding the possibility of signing Modeste and could test Wehrle’s resolve by submitting a formal offer for the 28-year-old.
