According to SportWitness who quote French source L’Equipe, West Ham have joined the race for 23-year-old Nampalys Mendy.
The defensive midfielder currently plays for Ligue 1 side Nice however after having a good season he has managed to attract the interest of the Premier League champions.
It is understood that Leicester submitted a bid of around £9.5m however as that was pending West Ham submitted a bid in the region of £12 million.

With the latter transfer fee being increasingly higher than Leicester’s Nice want to accept it, however it seems that the Frenchman has already made his mind up to join Leicester.
Nice are trying to convince Mendy that West Ham is a good move and he may be encouraged to join the London based side as he can see how well fellow countryman Dimitri Payet has done with them this season.
Although this isn’t an area where Wes Ham necessarily need to improve they need the squad depth for the Europa League and FA cup next season. A larger squad will provide more competition and give players a rest when they need it.
