West Ham enter race for Bundesliga duo

West Ham have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Havard Nordtveit, According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is a crucial player for Monchengladbach. He played in all six of the German side’s Champions league games including a trip to Manchester.

The German midfielder is out of contract in six months time meaning he would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. With Liverpool behind West Ham in the Premier League, European football is looking increasingly unlikely for the Reds. This would be a big factor for the German since he wants to progress as a player.

West Ham are also looking at signing FC Augsburg defender Dominik Kohr, the Mirror reports. But once again the Hammers have competition, this time with London rivals Tottenham. Unlike Nordtveit the centre-half has a long-term contract with the German side. Since joining he has showed great signs of a quality player and he is now being pursued by some big premier league teams.

West Ham currently have a very strong squad but if they want to improve further, they will need to bring in players from overseas with experience of other leagues.
