Bilic – We’re going to give everything

Following a busy week, Slaven Bilic has spoken to the press, WHUFC.com reports.

The manager insists that he was pleased with the team performance against Norwich even though the Hammers didn’t travel back to London with all three points.

Last season under Sam Allardyce, the Hammers struggled in the latter part of the season and when asked if this would happen again Bilic replied:

We’re going to try to be different [to last season] and we’re going to give everything.

West Ham were 2-0 down until the 70th minute and Bilic was very pleased with the comeback his team made.

This kind of performance gives us hope that it will be different. We have the quality, we have the team spirit, we have the character, we have legs, the only problem is the injuries. But we are expecting a few players to come back after the Blackburn game and it gives us hope, but only if we continue to play like the last half an hour, or if we improve and raise our level of the game.

Dimitri Payet was pivotal in the two goals West Ham scored late on at Norwich. As Payet recently signed a new long-term contract Bilic spoke about how pleased he was with how the club reacted when they knew he was available in summer.

It wasn’t a record deal for West Ham. Nowhere near that, I don’t think. But we were first to react, or we used the situation that for some reason bigger clubs didn’t try to get him. I don’t know why, it was a bit of a surprise.

Even though Norwich are 17th, the fierce performance they put in on Saturday shows just how demanding and unpredictable the Premier league is becoming.

It’s the Premier League and every team is good enough. I’m not talking about resilience, I’m not talking about physical presence or character, that is all Premier League clubs, I’m talking about the quality.
