West Ham defender linked with reunion with former manager

According to reports in The Mirror today, Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is planning a January swoop for Hammers defender James Collins, as he looks to improve the Black Cats defence.

The Wearside club have conceded more goals than any other team in the Premier League this year, a whopping 26 in only 12 games.

Collins has been struggling for game time under new boss Slaven Bilic at West Ham, and with his contract expiring in June, it is believed he will have no hesitations in leaving East-London.

The Wales international has played in five Premier League matches this season, and eight in all competitions. He is currently serving a suspension for a red card he picked up in the defeat to Watford for a foul on striker Odion Ighalo, who had scored a brace in that match.

The Hammers next game is a short trip to rivals Tottenham Hotspur, the two teams separated on goal difference alone.
