West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has said that yesterday’s winning goalscorer, Andy Carroll, is a ‘big player’ for both club and country, he’s quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
He also described the Englishman as ‘special’ and stated that as long has he remains fit, both West Ham and England can benefit from his skill.
Carroll’s first goal of the season gave West Ham victory over Chelsea in a match fraught with incident. He has described his goal as ‘typical Andy Carroll’, but says that he will take it anyway.
The West Ham boss has said that the 26-year-old gives the Hammers a lot of options, and the Croatian has never doubted his quality.
Since joining permanently in Summer 2013, Carroll has only scored fifteen times, with his career in East London being plagued by injury. He has managed to make 61 appearances for the team in all competitions.
With his previous team, Liverpool, in 58 appearances he managed to net only eleven times, a below par record for a man who cost the Reds a reported £35m.
