West Ham co-owner David Sullivan’s foray into the film production world with ‘Rise of the Krays’, has turned slightly dark as reports have surfaced that Sullivan may have been involved in creating fake reviews to trumpet his own work. Ed Aarons of The Guardian reported that ‘reviews on IMDb seem to have been written by people connected to Sullivan‘.
In the trailer for the film, one review states “the best British gangster film ever made“. However, what makes this slightly suspicious is that this review comes from Sullivan’s very own newspaper; The Sunday Sport.
In addition, the article in The Guardian also alleges that a number of reviews on the film review site IMBD may have been written by people connected to Sullivan.
The film has been heavily advertised by those around the club, with the Official West Ham site dedicating time to the film in it’s news section along with a number of tweets by the club, co-owner David Gold and Sullivan’s son Jack.
