Co-owner David Sullivan’s son and Twitter royalty Jack Sullivan tweeted out earlier today that West Ham “hope to resolve our striker crisis by the middle of next week.” Unfortunately, it looks very unlikely it will be resolved with the signing of Napoli’s Eduardo Vargas.
Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have agreed a deal for the Chilean forward, according to Gianlucadimarzio.com.
West Ham were interested in a loan deal for Vargas as injuries have started piling up, per a report by TMW. Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll should return to the fold later in the year, so a cheaper acquisition, like a loan deal, would have been ideal for Slaven Bilic’s side.
With two weeks left in the summer transfer window, the pressure is on for the Hammers to find an attacking body. The only fit strikers for tomorrow’s match against Bournemouth are Diafra Sakho and Modibo Maiga, after Mauro Zarate reportedly picked up a knock.
