West Ham United midfielder Diego Poyet has signed for Championship side Milton Keynes Dons on a season-long loan, it has been confirmed.
The defensive midfielder has struggled to break into the first team, in spite of his role in the early stages of the Europa League qualification campaign.
In addition to this, the emergence of 16-year-old Reece Oxford has made it even more difficult to win a place in the starting eleven.
Poyet, who played in the recent U21 Development Squad game against West Bromwich Albion, is deemed to benefit more from competitive first team football in the league below.
MK Dons recently got promoted from League One, and will be hoping that Poyet gives them the stability required that will preserve their second tier status.
20-year-old Poyet, son of former Premier League star Gus Poyet, was signed by former manager Sam Allardyce last summer, but made just five appearances during the 2014/15 campaign before being loaned out for the remainder of the season.
