West Ham United have made an offer for Napoli striker Eduardo Vargas, according to Chilean media outlet AS. The Boleyn Ground club have tabled a £1.1million loan deal in an attempt to bring the forward to Upton Park.
Vargas spent the 2014/15 campaign in the Premier League after Harry Redknapp signed him on loan at Queens Park Rangers. Unfortunately for the fellow London club however, they suffered relegation to the Championship.
The 25-year-old impressed over the summer, helping his country Chile win the Copa America title on home turf, where he scored four goals in five starts. In addition to playing up front, he can also play as an attacking midfielder, potentially bringing some much-needed creativity to the East London side.
La Liga side Villarreal are also said to be interested in Vargas, as West Ham step up their striker chase following Raul Jimenez’s decision to snub the club for Benfica. Fellow front-men Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia are currently suffering from long-term injury issues.
