West Ham United have joined fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United, Sunderland and Aston Villa in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend, according to the Daily Star.
The North London club would be willing to let Townsend depart for around £15million. Having previously worked under the management of Tim Sherwood, the player may favour a move to Villa Park.
He scored five goals during the 2014/15 campaign, but he has found his starting opportunities limited under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, with the 24-year-old a Spurs fan himself, a move away from White Hart Lane could perhaps be rather difficult to foresee. At international level, the attacking midfielder has three goals in nine appearances for the Three Lions.
On the other hand, the arrival of Clinton N’Jie from French top tier side Lyon may result in Townsend leaving the club after all, as the London rivals look to balance the books. The Hammers, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Newcastle all look to capitalise on it.
