West Ham United could yet still make a move for Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato. The Hammers have been handed a boost in the race for the Tunisian, following comments made by the player’s agent.
Abdennour was a key part of Monaco’s impressive 2014/15 football season, in which the club reached the last eight of the UEFA Champions League. He also helped the principality club in achieving the best defensive record in Ligue 1, conceding fewer goals than top two Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon.
The player’s agent has revealed that the centre-half is keeping his options open, saying that: ‘The truth is that Abdennour wants to leave. He wants a new adventure, and there are new opportunities in England. Various clubs across the continent have been linked with him this summer, including Barcelona.

The 26-year-old signed permanently for Leonardo Jardim’s side in January 2014 and has been a regular in the first team. The centre-back is renowned for his aerial ability, and solidarity in the backline of the defence. He also has one goal in 33 appearances for the Tunisian international team.
