With key striker target Raul Jimenez set to snub a move to Upton Park and join Benfica, West Ham United have been offered former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov. He scored seven goals in 18 starts for the Ligue 1 side during the 2014/15 campaign.
The Daily Mirror reports that the East London club will rival fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Leicester City for the signature of the Bulgarian. With all three sides involved winning their opening day fixture, Berbatov may face a rather difficult decision.
Berbatov, now 34 years of age, is on the hunt for a new team to play his football with following his release from Champions League quarter-finalists Monaco. He has also had previous spells in the top tier of English football with Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham.
He would provide good cover for fellow frontmen Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll, if he was to sign on the dotted line, as the pair are currently both suffering from serious injury problems.
