West Ham United look likely to miss out on the signing of veteran midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, according to the Brentford Gazette. The player’s agent has come out and said that the Champions League winner is in ‘advanced talks‘ with Greek outfit Olympiakos.
The 35-year-old has been linked with a whole host of clubs this summer, including Premier League champions Chelsea, Aston Villa and West Ham. However, it looks like the defensive midfielder will sign on the dotted line for the Piraeus side.
Cambiasso scored five leagues goal during the 2014/15 campaign, helping Leicester City achieve domestic survival and avoid relegation to the Championship. He has also been linked with a move to the MLS, but Olympiakos are set to land the Argentine.
With the deal for Alex Song still hanging in the balance, and new signing Pedro Obiang suffering from an injury, the Hammers may still look to bring in another player in this position in order to increase the depth of the squad.
