West Ham Rivalled In Lanzini Bid

West Ham face competition from Al-Sharjah in the race to sign Al Jazira midfielder Manuel Lanzini, according to The National.

The 22-year-old Argentine was subject to a loan bid from West Ham earlier in the week as Slaven Bilic looks to add some creativity in the final third.

Lanzini signed for Al Jazira last summer in a deal worth £6.4m on a four-year deal from River Plate, and scored eight goals in 24 appearances last season which helped see his side finish second in the UAE Arabian Gulf League.

However, he is now being deemed surplus to requirements despite an impressive debut season, with Al Jazira said to be welcoming offers for the young midfielder.

The Hammers want to bring the former Argentina U20 international to the Premier League on a season-long loan, with the view to make the move permanent next summer should he impress.

Now it seems that fellow UAE outfit, Al-Sharjah, wish to sign the talented playmaker.

Sharjah have shown an interest in Lanzini and the Jazira management is looking at the offers,” said a club source told The National. “Of course, the player will have a say as well.
