Nuno Espírito Santo at West Ham United
West Ham United manager Nuno Espírito Santo takes his Championship leaders to The Den on Saturday, the first league meeting with Millwall since 2012. Former Hammer Matt Jarvis believes handling the atmosphere matters as much as any tactical decision Nuno makes. Crucially, Jarvis urged Nuno’s players to embrace the occasion without losing focus, speaking to The Sun ahead of the derby. Additional police measures will support Saturday’s fixture, though Nuno’s real concern is stopping the derby’s emotion spilling onto the pitch.
Nuno’s side have won four consecutive Championship matches and could make it five straight victories for the first time since 2006. Indeed, West Ham possess enough physicality to compete with Millwall’s approach. Konstantinos Mavropanos, Max Kilman and Morato give Nuno considerable size at the back. Attacking players can also hurt Millwall if the game becomes stretched. Moreover, Read West Ham’s predicted XI backs Nuno to keep much of the side responsible for this recent momentum.
Career Before West Ham United
Before joining West Ham, Nuno built his reputation as a goalkeeper with Vitória de Guimarães, Deportivo La Coruña and Porto. He then moved into management with Rio Ave and later took charge of Valencia. Nuno returned to Porto as manager, then had spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Al-Ittihad and Nottingham Forest. Finally, he arrived at West Ham to lead the Hammers’ Championship promotion push.

Major Honours Won
Nuno’s major honours date back to his second spell at Porto, where his side won the Primeira Liga title. Porto also lifted the Taça de Portugal under his management. However, those trophies remain the clearest marker of his pedigree before Wolves, Tottenham, Al-Ittihad and Nottingham Forest. His current task at West Ham is building similar silverware credentials at the London Stadium.
