West Ham United sit second in the Championship after a solid start to life back in the second tier, with 22 points from 11 games and a potent attack that has netted 30 goals.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are almost one quarter of the way through the long league campaign and now head into a testing run of four fixtures up to the November international break.
Every game matters, but the next four could shape the automatic promotion push.
First up is a home clash with Southampton on Saturday (24 October).
The Saints, seventh with 17 points (after a deduction), have been clinical at home and recently ground out results, including a 1-0 win at Norwich.
West Ham’s London Stadium form will be key against a side capable of matching their intensity.
Seven days later, the Hammers host West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies sit fifth on 20 points and showed resilience by coming from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 3-2.
This mid-table clash of promotion hopefuls promises goals and intensity, with both teams in mixed recent form.
Hammers hit the road
The Hammers then hit the road with two consecutive away games.
On Wednesday 4th November, West Ham travel to Cardiff City, who are currently 19th on 11 points.
The Bluebirds have been inconsistent but can shine at home, as evidenced by the 5-1 thrashing of Watford.
Finally, on Saturday 7th November, a trip to Ewood Park awaits to take on Blackburn Rovers.
Rovers, sitting 10th on 15 points, have displayed mixed form so far this term, but remain competitive in the typical Championship way.
West Ham’s superior squad depth and goal threat should give them the edge in most of these ties, particularly at home.
However, Southampton and West Brom will provide stern tests, while the away days demand focus against lower-table sides capable of upsets.
West Ham Points Prediction
The Hammers can secure 9/10 points from these four games.
Let’s keep the positivity going, and look toward toppling Swansea City in top spot.
Victories are within reach against Southampton and Cardiff, but Nuno’s team will need to show their mettle.
Points are required on the road, but it’s not realistic to expect to win every game. Maybe a win and a loss against West Brom and Blackburn, or four points from the two respective fixtures.
That return would keep the Irons firmly in the automatic promotion hunt as the season intensifies.
