Former Premier League striker Noel Whelan has tipped heavily linked Sparta Prague starlet Adam Hlozek to provide the ‘answer’ at West Ham.
The Hammers have struggled to recapture their early-season form on a consistent basis in recent weeks and Michail Antonio is enduring a mini goal drought.
Without a goal in eight league games and with no senior recognised frontman to step in, David Moyes must surely be considering reinforcements when the January window opens.
Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan suggested that the 19-year-old Czech ace could be the ideal candidate.
When strikers are going through that little bit of a sticky patch, sometimes it’s nice to have that help from somebody else. A fresh face, someone else that can contribute, take a bit of pressure off your shoulders. It is a long arduous season. It’s very tough with so many games going on in Europe and in the Premier League. It’s very difficult to maintain that kind of tempo and that quality all the time. They maybe need to dip into the market. Bring in a fresh face, liven things up again in that changing room. If they do manage Hlozek over the line, then that will give that help to Antonio that he desperately needs as well. He could be the answer that they’re looking for.
So far this season Hlozek has scored six times and provided 12 assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £15.3million and under contract until 2024 (Transfermarkt), bringing Hlozek to the London Stadium would likely be an expensive venture in the mid-season window.
Capable of playing in multiple attacking areas, the 12-cap Czech teenager has the potential to provide more than just an adequate backup to Antonio in Moyes’ squad.
Already a top league goalscorer in 2020/21, Hlozek looks ready to make the next step in a promising career.
