Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson was left unimpressed by an ‘uncharacteristic’ display from West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal last weekend.
The Hammers’ right-back was out of sorts as David Moyes’ side fell to a late defeat at the hands of Brentford at the London Stadium.
Usually a steadying influence in defence, the Czech international lost possession on 31 occasions, gave away two fouls and lost three individual duels (Sofascore).
Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson was reticent to pin the blame all on the 29-year-old’s door.
Coufal has been outstanding since he has been there. It was not one of his better games, put it that way. You cannot pin the blame on him though. It was an all-round poor performance by West Ham. I thought they were very poor. Leeds destroyed them in the first half last week. But, in the second half they massively improved and looked good. I was impressed with the changes David Moyes made and it paid dividends. I just think the game against Brentford was an uncharacteristic performance given their recent form. It is harsh to pick out individual because there was not one of them that played well.
Prior to Sunday’s clash, Coufal had been in impressive form from the opening six Premier League outings.

Signed for just £5million from Slavia Prague (Guardian), few could question the impact the Czech ace has enjoyed in east London.
Given the start to the season everyone had made, it’s possible to put the loss down to a blip and allow the side to go again following the international break.
Coufal could face Wales and Belarus in World Cup qualifying action during the break from domestic action.
