Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell believes West Ham have sufficiently strengthened their ranks over the summer.
The Hammers added the deadline day arrivals of Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral to earlier deals for Kurt Zouma and Alphonse Areola to bolster David Moyes’ squad.
As the Irons prepare to embark on Europa League action, there had been concerns the strength in depth wouldn’t be able to cope with the additional demands.
Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell admits that the club now has the quality to compete on all fronts.
The plan is to match last season’s effort. They have strengthened in certain areas and brought in some good players like Vlasic. Vlasic has improved immensely from his time at Everton. He is a renowned player now, a full international, he’s a brilliant signing. Moyes has gone about his business pretty quietly and he’s building a really good squad there at West Ham. If there are injuries they have enough players to pick up the slack. That was the big problem for West Ham last season. They have definitely strengthened this summer 100%
Prior to the late additions and the ensuring international break, West Ham were unbeaten in the opening three Premier League outings – lying second in the table.
Moyes will hope the new faces, coupled with the strong start can set the side on route to another season of overachievement, beginning with a strong performance against Southampton this weekend.

Despite missing out on Jesse Lingard as well as a recognised striker to offer support to Michail Antonio, the summer transfer window was near perfect.
All other key positions were filled and the squad is arguably the healthiest it’s looked for many years.
Thursday night football alongside domestic duties will be the ultimate test of the ranks, but one the Hammers now look equipped to deal with.
