West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has been at the heart of the praise following a superb 4-0 England victory over Hungary.
On a night when football stole the show over some abhorrent off-field controversy, the 22-year-old was at the heart of the positivity.
Rice rounded off the scoring late on moments before being replaced when a long-range effort found its way through RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi.
BBC pundit Chris Sutton was one of the first to hail the Iron on social media.
Twitter: Declan Rice is an outstanding talent. (@chris_sutton73)
Former England striker Gary Lineker soon followed as Rice caught the eye on his 24th appearance for the senior national side.
Twitter: Congratulations. Well played.

Not content with producing an all-conquering performance and grabbing a second international goal, Rice also found time to drink from a plastic cup thrown at teammates during celebrations.
