Jesse Lingard will play every week at West Ham and the club want him to return, claims former Premier League striker Dean Windass.

Since going back to Manchester United Lingard is yet to make a start, which has sparked transfer rumours suggesting that he could return to West Ham.

The Manchester United playmaker spent the second half of last season on loan with the Hammers, making an immediate impact on the team.

Lingard reignited his career at West Ham, scoring nine goals and producing four assists in 16 games after a six month absence from the top flight.

His incredible form in the Premier League also earned the 28-year-old the chance to impress on the international stage again, after Gareth Southgate called him up to the England squad in March.

On the matter, former Hull City and Bradford City striker Windass said:

“You’re gonna play week in and week out. If you’re Jesse Lingard you are going to go to West Ham.

Stuart [Pearce] has come out and said ‘Yeah we’d love him to come back’ and there were rumours that he might be going back” he said. “Antonio, he’ll be going off [getting excited].”

Michail Antonio became West Ham’s all-time top Premier League goalscorer on Monday night, scoring two goals against Leicester City to cap off an incredible performance from the 31-year-old.

He broke Paolo Di Canio’s goalscoring record of 47 Premier League goals for West Ham, with Antonio now having scored 49 in total.

His partnership with Jesse Lingard towards the back-end of last season heavily contributed to his increasing goal tally, and a potential reunion could help the Hammers go even further than the feats they achieved last season.
