West Ham are now believed to be ‘edging closer’ to the signing of Chelsea central defender Kurt Zouma.
Journalist Alex Crook told talkSPORT (Wednesday, August 25, 12.10pm) that a deal is now ‘much closer’ to reaching the finishing line.
£45million West Ham plans to invest between now and the end of the transfer window if they can. My understanding is that the Kurt Zouma deal is edging closer, personal terms much closer to being agreed in fact they are hopeful he could be in the squad for a debut in the Premier League this weekend. I think it would be a terrific signing for West Ham who have made a sensational start to the season.
Crook went on to say that the 26-year-old Frenchman boasts a ‘wealth’ of top-flight experience and that the eight-cap star is heralded as a strong character in the dressing room.
However, sat in the studio, ex-Iron Trevor Sinclair wasn’t too enamoured with the potential arrival.
They need it if you look at the centre half pairing. (Angelo) Ogbonna and (Craig) Dawson have done great, (Issa) Diop as a backup. A lot of West Ham fans want to know if they are going to bring a striker in, obviously, Jesse Lingard is one. But, Vlasic is the one.

Signing a striker and central defender before the end of the month would no doubt fill the Hammers faithful with far greater confidence than currently.
Whilst the current squad have already made a superb start to the season, as Europa League football comes around there will be more rigorous tests ahead.
With £30million the mooted fee for Zouma, going off Crook’s claim it would leave £15million to spend on a striker in the closing days.
