Former Republic of Ireland defender Mark Lawrenson has predicted a close encounter when West Ham face Leicester City on Monday.
The Hammers welcome the Foxes to the London Stadium as David Moyes‘ side look to back up their 4-2 triumph over Newcastle United last weekend.
Brendan Rodgers’ men also come into the clash having achieved an opening day victory over Wolves.
Writing for his BBC Sport predictions column, Lawrenson predicted a 1-1 draw in east London before suggesting that the Irons must do more in the transfer market before the window closes.
This is an interesting one. West Ham did the double over Leicester last season, with two Jesse Lingard goals inspiring their win at London Stadium. There is no Lingard this time, although I am expecting the Hammers to be busy in the transfer market before the window closes at the end of the month. West Ham got four goals away at Newcastle last week which will have given them a big lift, while Leicester did just enough to beat Wolves in their opener. This time? You could make a case for both teams to win it, but I have a feeling the points will end up being shared.
Last season West Ham beat Leicester 3-0 at the King Power Stadium before edging their visitors 3-2 in April.

Although home form will be crucial if the Hammers are going to emulate their success of last term, Rodgers’ side pose a difficult challenge so early in the campaign.
There is no denying Lawrenson is spot on with the transfer chat, however, with Moyes surely desperate to strengthen the squad before the additional workload of Europa League and domestic cups has an impact.
At least one central defender and a striker are required if the Irons are going to compete in the upper echelons of the league once again in 2021/22.
