Former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has backed Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause to be a hit at West Ham should a move come to fruition.
This comes as the Hammers are linked with a move for the 26-year-old in order to strengthen the defensive options at David Moyes’ disposal.
In the final 12 months of a deal at Villa Park (Transfermarkt), Hause could be available at a reduced price before the end of the transfer window this month.
Speaking to Football Insider, Kenny claimed that the English centre-back should move on to the Irons.
I really rate David Moyes, and for players like that, I think he can be amazing. If he has that opportunity to go and be the superstar at West Ham, be the main man, I don’t see why he wouldn’t take it. He’s a bit lower down now at Villa after they got the lad from Man United in, so it would be a great move for him. He hasn’t got long left on his contract, so you can see him getting that move for not exactly a huge fee. West Ham are a club on the up, for me. I think they’d be a great destination for him to push on under David Moyes.
Capped on 10 occasions by England at Under 21 level, Hause started life in the academy at West Ham before spells with Birmingham, Wolves, and Gillingham prior to arriving at Aston Villa.
Last season the defender made 12 appearances across all competitions – earning an outstanding 7.03 average Sofascore rating in seven Premier League outings.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Valued at just £4.5million – in part due to the dwindling contract situation – West Ham would be wise to consider a bargain move for the lesser-seen Villa ace.
Clearly down the pecking order in the Midlands, behind Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and new signing Axel Tuanzebe, the Hammers could offer more frequent first-team action.
Capable of playing left-back as well as central defence, Hause would also offer much-needed cover for Aaron Cresswell.
